02 max cps issue/ dead tach

so after searching the forum ive figured my maxima is showing the usual signs of needing one or both of the cam pos sensors and or the crankshaft sensor..

symptoms= hard starting(5-more cranks) and dead tachometer. tach gauge is stuck at 2000rpm

i have replaced all three sensors and still no improvement???? why??
can anyone help me remedy this??

side note-a week ago after filling the tank it came back to life but only below 2000rpm and that was short lived.. accel was jumpy....decel was smooth

also this morning i started tracing wiring from all three sensors
found a exposed weathered wire coming off the pigtail of the front Camshaft position sensor..wire is black so i am assuming its the ground/negative..could this be the cause?

anyone have a wiring diagram for this car?

Yes, black is ground. Wiring diagrams for the Camshaft Position Sensors can be found in the EC section of the FSM.

thanks man..another quick question, does the sensor itself have to be grounded? i have to find a pigtail i suppose, but until then i wanted to clip the ground running to the sensor and actually ground it to the battery.
my question is which end has to be grounded? harness or sensor
sensor makes sense but i have to ask

??? I'm not sure what you're asking. Why would you run anything to the battery? I'm assuming the ground wire on the harness leading to the CPS has abraded. Just splice in a new wire? I don't understand what's complicated. If there's not enough wire to splice into then just run a jumper wire from that pin on the CPS to ground...ex: the block or frame.

sorry for the confusion. pretty much like you were saying there is not enough wire on the pigtail(thats the exposed wire that is rusted) so my problem is actually connecting any wire whatsoever to the the ground pin itself...each pin is a rectangle shape.. I dont know how to push it out of the plug
