Change the tensioners for sure before tossing it in there.

That is where I found mine. '05 w/72k for $700 locally...

...for me that was the best deal I could find. I did however have to swap a few more parts over from my '02 than initially thought since some of the '05 parts were damaged by the salvage yard. (valve covers, oil cooler lines, engine coolant lines, etc.)

Side note: I also swapped over the following parts:

1. knock sensor (different plug connections between the two)
2. upper/lower oil pan (mine is manual, '05 is auto)
3. fuel rail (different, not sure I had to, but I did)
4. intake plenum (EGR crap on '05)
5. crank sensor (auto/manual)

Those are off top of head. Still in process of swapping...

Yea man smh.. I checked it atleast once a week.. I had added about 3 qts the day before. I guess that was a sign in itself right there. It burned oil like gas.

If your car is manual and the new engine is auto you need your old upper oil pan. I would also swap knock sensor, fuel rails, upper intake manifold and throttle body. You should change the two small oil ring gaskets that go on top of the oil pan and also the two moon shaped gasket located at the front and rear of the engine.

As far as engine goes car-part.com is the best place to look. Find a local place that has a VQ35 with good miles and price and go get it. Many people on here have swapped newer engine in their 5.5 gen Maxima, so there are tons of threads about that. Just look around.

Still no motor.. but on my old motor I have the spacers/BOP and a R2c intake.. Will the spacers nd BOP work on the newer motors(04-08) or no? I know its something with the EGR or something

You swap your entire upper/lower intake and throttle body from old engine to the newer one. It removes the EGR crap and yes your spacers/BOP will all work just fine.

In green are your secondary chains, those are important as well as the guides and tensioners.

I payed someone $100 in labor to come over and do all of it while the engine was out. well worth it.
