This is only the 2nd time in 5 years my max has left me stranded, both times within 3 months of each other.

If I was to replace it, BMW and Infinity are the top contenders. Not to opposed to an Acura. But I think at that price point, Id rather go with the Infinity.

Rochester- I just realized you went with the g37s lol, do you like it? (Im sure I can do a search for that answer, your so helpful im sure there is a nice write up about it. Ive appreciated and respected your opinion like many others have for years.) Please tell me the turn radius is better lol

RR5- I completely agree with your statement. It was more of a question of when other people waved the flag. And with our cars being 10 years old, many people have decided to move on.

Hell, I told the mrs I could just by an ORG'ers car they were selling, should have seen the death stare lol

Stopped at the shop again this morning after work and was told, the alternator is not getting power and they cant sort it out. They think its a computer issue and they are not equipped to handle it. They said the car will drive on the charge it has, but only a few miles.... Next stop may be a auto electrician and at least get an estimate.

Time to start reading all the alternator threads and see if I can find some insite.

Hmm. Kind words, thank you.

Yes, the turning radius is very tight. And yes, this car is very rewarding... even more so with some aftermarket swaybars and expensive rubber. However, odds are you'll have to travel in order to pick up a G37S 6MT Sedan. So if that's what you want, be patient and do your homework.

Totally worthy car, though. The 6MT has understated luxury, with old school, muscle car performance, and great handling characteristics. You could do much worse.

Your right about the travel. I found a 2010 g37s 6mt 35k miles at $29k, that would be about exactly what im after (color/interior).. in PA... im near Austin Tx lol. But its over what I would like to spend, but not out of the question. When I told the Mrs I found something the 1st words out of her mouth was "where is it? " lol. She said sweet, we can goto Philly....

But I also found a 08 g35 6mt close to me Im going to see on Sunday. 50k miles @ $18k

I also realized (not sure what I was thinking) trade in for my car (in great shape) is going to be crap, so hopefully it can be fixed for reasonable price, then I cant replace the suspension and maybe give it to my child.. who knows.

Call it a day and buy a is300.
Lower price
Reliable
Good look
Sedan
Gas saver

I'm on the look out for one myself.

I want to say bemers older than 90's are as useful as the max you struggling with as a daily.
Good luck.

When I started searching at the end of 2011, there was a 2009 G37S Sedan 6MT without Nav, and 30K miles, down in Austin for $25K. It was red, with a stone leather interior. I agonized over that car for 3 weeks. Suddenly the price went to $22.5K, and it was sold next day. I should have acted. Felt like someone had punched me in the gut. Weird, you know?

While my 2011 is amazing and I have no regrets on the '11, I could have saved $10K on a similar car, then modified it at a quicker pace. It took 4 months before I found the car I'm driving, and even then had to go 400 miles to pick it up.

The VQ35HR in the 2007-2008 Sedan is a worthy engine.

Looks like the original problem was the alternator. However when shop #1 took out the old one, they broke part of the plastic wiring harness plug where it connects, so when they plugged in the new one, it wasnt getting a connection. since they couldnt find the error, I had to send t to shop #2

Now I get to tell shop #1 the news and see if they will cover any part of the $100 tow, 2hr labor charge to find the problem or the $40 part. Oh well, what can you do. I wont be taking my car to shop #1 unless its a car wash.. they do a good job lol.

Also, both shops mentioned the alternator bracket was broken but it was a common occurrence and nissan has them on back order. Anyone aware of this? ... eekkk better use the search feature right quick lol
