i have a p1130 and p1165 code on my ae

OK so I got a ses light And have Three codes one is a p0430 cat but not my worries, the other two are p1130&p1165 which are swirl control valve, I noticed these codes are only for Cali spec cars, and sadly mine is I live in Albuquerque new Mexico would this effect my emissions ? How can I fix this I have already searched all over the web for this swirl valve and can't find anything .

Lastly I have had this car for almost two months and love this car but out of curiosity do all 2001 maximas suffer from the p0505 code ? Mine doesn't have any of the symptoms but just for future references what are the possibilities for my anniversary edition ? Thanks guys

In 2001, all cars from all manufacturers are what people call Cali spec. The swirl control valve tends to be a problem and some people remove it, but I don't know if that would cause you to fail an emissions test. Search for swirl valve.

The P0505 is a problem. While you say that you don't have any symptoms, I would advise you to get it fixed before it causes the ECU to burn up. You can do a resistance check to verify if the IACV (IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE is bad.

See page 436 - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2001/EC.pdf

Would removing the swirl valve make the trouble codes go away ? I have already search swirl control valve and found nothing. About the p0505 I don't have the code that code doesn't exist in my trouble codes I'm just asking what's the possibility of that code popping up on 2001 maximas

DO NOT remove the swirl control valve. I had a brain fart and confused it with the VIAS Control Valve on the 2002 & 2003 models.

What you need to do is fix the P1165 code (swirl control valve control vacuum check switch). This can cause a false P1130 code.

Start reading on page 478, the procedure to check the switch is on page 481.

Since you don't have the P050 code, that's good. Will you get that code? Maybe, probably eventually. Anything made by man is guaranteed to fail. All we can argue about is when it will fail. P0505 is hardly an epidemic problem. It has happened to only a small small percentage of people, but it gets a lot of attention because it is so expensive to repair.

If you are worried about this, do the resistance check on page 436 mentioned above. If the readings you get are 1 or 2 ohms different from the 22 ohms the manual says, it is probably OK as the meter you use could be off. If the resistance readings are lower than that, check it again in a couple of weeks. If the readings are down to 15 ohms, replace the IACV. There are 4 coils in the IACV that you check resistance on. If they are more than 1 ohm different, replace the IACV.
