Mevotech outer tie rod end and ball joint
Today I picked up a mevotech outer tie rod end and ball joint and just wanted to give a review on the quality and fit.
First I installed the tie rod end (passenger side), side by side the mevotech is thicker, has what seems to be a pretty good quality rubber boot, as well as a grease nipple on the bottom
. It came with all hardware, new castle nut and cotter pin, and the nut that is on the inner tie rod (I didn't use it).
Fit was good, only complaint I have was a washer needs to be put on under the castle nut to bring it down far enough, in order for the cotter pin to go through the holes in the castle nut.
For the ball joint, it too looks of good quality, with a durable rubber boot and a grease nipple. As well as all hardware, castle nut, cotter pin and circlip.
I haven't finished installing the ball joint, because I'm not sure if it fits properly or the LCA is worn out. I am using an LCA from a parts 01 se auto that I stripped down, as far I know the LCA should be the same.
After I smacked out the old ball joint, the new one can be fully seated by hand without much effort at all. I just dont trust the little circlip to be all that's holding that ball joint in.
Now I'm hoping someone else who has used this ball joint can say if the fitment was ok, or if the hole in the LCA I have is just worn out?
