On a 02 maxima is the radiator support bolted in or welded in?

 

Welded in. Big job

 

The spot welds need to be drilled out and a new support welded in. You should be able to get done for $400 - $500 or less if after market part is used. Will need to have AC recharged after as well as condenser and radiator need to be removed in order to gain acess to weld locations.

 

Thanks. I'm going to remove everything so all they have to do is remove the lower support and put the new one in.

 

You're going to drive it there without a radiator?

 

Dont use an aftermarket one it will last 6 weeks. Trust me.

 

The after market ones seem to be weak and made of a thinner metal. Any ideas on reinforcing it . The difference in price is about $200

 

unless you want to do that project every 2 months go ahead and use the aftermarket... just get the lower radiator support from Nissan... I ordered mine plus the hood latch support... it cost me $160 for everything shipped to my door... Do it once with good parts and forget about it... its not that hard and if you have a nice place to work and the correct tools it could be done in about 4-5 hours... that is if you are handy with the tools

 

The lower rad support is also spotwelded?

 

Going to have it towed.
