Closed/locked thread

Why did my thread about comparing calculated gas mileage VS CMU indicated gas get closed?
Also, it appears some think I don't know how to figure out gas mileage by dividing gallons used into mileage driven.
In my limited search, I did not find anything about my specific question.

Because it's been discussed a thousand times, (now a thousand and one). And 5.5 gens tend to lean a bit higher on the MPG's, 6th gens tend to be very close to spot on regarding the computer/dash readout.

The calculation takes into account the IPW from the ECU and then adjusts the dash MPG accordingly. And again, it makes sense because 5.5 gens have NB O2's whereas 6th gens have WB's.

I know it's not using MAF voltage because when I had a stock MAF and Z33 injectors I noted an increase in dash MPG's by about +16%. And with my new 440's I see a gain of about 42%, even though ACTUAL MPG hasn't changed.

OK, so show me what I need to type into search to review past treads. With a thousand and one threads, it should be pretty easy to find.

Type MPG, and weed them out. You’ll notice the majority of the posters say to do it then old fashioned way and also that it’s optimistic, as I stated prior.

Thank you for the links.
My 4th gen Maxima's did not have the gauge and I was curious about this feature and wanted to learn a little about it. This is on an 03 I35 that I just picked up.
I see that the links you posted went back about nine years.
