Passenger side sealed and done. Overall I'm very happy for my first true LED project. There are things that I'm still learning, mainly the electrical side of things, but should be better the next go around. I ran all brake, turn, and parking light for a good 30 minutes. The power regulator for the brake got hot and it stopped working, the rest are OK though. Not sure why since the turn signal has the biggest load 250mA and the regulator is barely warm to touch. No heat sink

Very envious of your work. Still trying to work up the courage to open mine

That is absolutely outstanding work. Mad props.

I think theyre plenty bright! You wouldnt want to blind people at night, id wait for a bright sunny day and face the back towards the sun. Hit the brakes, blinkers, etc and see how they perform. If its necessary to make them brighter then do it. If not then leave em be and enjoy!

Mounted both on the car.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result for my first true LED project. It is plenty bright during the day and at night. The tail light housings are little beat up because they are ultrasonically welded ( I think) and I didn't take my time opening up.

The passenger side has one led lit up (dimmed) when the engine is ON (no brake, no turn signal, no parking light were on). It's fine when the engine is OFF.

grounding issue? nothing hot and unusual.

These tails take the cake imh! The grounding issue can be resolved easy by collaborating thru this forum /someone who likes wire diagrams and stuff ;)

I can't advise on the led issue you're having, but I can tell you that those are the absolute best led light replacements on a factory car that I have ever seen. Absolutely perfect and I would rock those without any hesitation and I am VERY particular about aftermarket lights and all that. Stunning work mate, truly.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking of making another set on SE tails. The tough part is actually opening up the tail nicely. I was able to open one side, decent, but lost patience on the other side and ended up butchering it that I had to weld it shut. I'm going to try with aftermarket ones maybe they are using butyl instead of ultrasonically welded.

The horizontal parking light beam looks fantastic! Any pics of these during the daytime?

cali_max 08-21-2014 10:11 AM

Very nice job. Im planning on putting together a set very soon just have to get the rest of the componets and a set of lights(cheap aftermarket to retro). My question is do u think the ebay lights can be baked to seperate or are those plastic welded also?

spreenyk888 08-21-2014 12:05 PM

those tails look great. definitely will look even better in SE tails. great work!
