Odd Strut problem

I have a pair of the KYB GR-2 Struts. I also ordered H&R Lowering springs. I Have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE. When i installed the struts and lowered the car from the jack, The Rods went up into the trunk and when i test drove it i felt every single bump i hit and it made a noise. Im not sure what i did wrong but i put my old struts back on.

You need to replace everything that was on it before. You are probably missing the top washer like was said. It goes on top of the rubber bushing that is on top of the mount. Here is an image from a search. Also, you must tighten that nut after you put the car on the ground or it could be loose.

Your question is sorta confusing.
What do you mean it's going into the trunk exactly?

The old washers/spacers/bushings need to be re-used.
There's a spacer in there that limits how much you can tighten the nut or
the bushing will get smashed and that will clunk.

Take a picture
It's amazing how well these boats feel on fresh shocks.
You'll be stoked coming from blown shocks.

Sorry about that. I posted what i wrote in the email to kyb here because i knew that i would get more help here and i was right.

They told me that there struts would bottom out after anything over a 1 Inch drop.

Its seems a bit weird that you have to use old parts off of the OEM strut but i understand.

But thanks everyone for the help. When i get the time to install the struts and springs i will post the results.

you only bought the strut, thats why. If you bought the entire assembly like a quick strut it would have come with everything brand new. You took the cheaper way but requires more labor and swapping over old parts.
