Running hot

I have an 01 that is running hot on me and I have no clue what to do next. So far I've changed the Radiator, Thermostat, Tempertature control valve, all hoses and water pump (not fun). I'm thinking the head gasket is blown but the car has great power! Has anyone ever had this issue and will burping the cooling system correct this issue?

Well, the first place to start is to properly bleed the cooling system. You can search for those instructions but do it right.

Next, is why did you change everything - shotgun approach?

The one thing you didn't mention is whether you checked to see if the fans were coming on. One or both failing to come on will cause a problem.

What were the symptoms before hand? Is it doing exactly the same thing?

Any coolant in your oil?

it was a process of elimination! I didn't change everything at once

everything started going hay wire after the IACV went bad then fried the ECM (both replaced)

Yes both fans are coming on after driving the car only a few miles

the oil is clear and clean

Since you had electrical problems, have you tested to see if your temperature gauge is reading properly?

Get an infared thermometer thingy from home depot/lowes/harbor freight and see what your temps are at. Measure at the thermostat housing as well as upper and lower radiator hoses.

okay thanks I'll try that. I was talking to another person and they don't think anything is wrong with the car. But I don't think a motor should start running hot or the fan kicks on after driving 5 miles.

Has anyone ever blead the cooling sytem on this vehicle? I tried taking the radiator cap off and letting the car run but I still don't see the water actualy circulating.
