I have a 2000 5spd GXE, and on occasion, I notice a vibrating (almost like a knocking) noise when I am pulling out in 1st gear. It's most noticeable between 1500 - 2500 rpm. It seems like it should be a lot smoother, to me, since I've never heard the noise in other M/T cars. It almost seems like the clutch plate is warped or something like that (excuse my limited knowledge of mechanics...).

Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to diagnose and fix?

I seem to notice some clutch shudder anywhere from 1000-1500 rpm in my 99, especially when the car is cold. It has been doing this since I got it from the dealer. See if it improves as your clutch warms up. I've seen some other guys complain about this same problem but we have no clue what it is.

 

I've noticed the same thing on my 2001 AE. Only happens
when the car is cold. Not too concerned ... I've noticed
this on Honda accords as well as Toyata Corollas.

 

I get axle hop on my Altima 5-spd when the car is cold in the morning, but I also get a vibrating noise (sounds like it's coming from behind the dash) between 1800-2400 RPM all the time, even when things are warmed up. My old Datsun 710 made the same noise and that was a warped flywheel, so I'm hoping this is something less severe. I'm taking it in soon for its first dealer visit so I'll have them check it.

 

Yesterday i let my friend drive.....bad idea

There was 4 people in the car, he redlined it and dropped the clutch...burned rubber...not happy about it. Never the less, now when taking off in 1st gear, the car makes a funky vibration for a split second. I'm going to take it in but i thought i would check in here first
