should i try to put the G35 UIM& LIM or stick to SSIM?

hey so im currently in the process of cutting out the shelf and port and polishing the UIM on my stock manifold, but im wondering, i recently got my hands on a G35 Intake manifold and was wondering if my gains would be better with it aswell as how exacly would the intake have to be routed because its gonna be facing almost the rad.

Cars that I've seen with the 350z uim (which I believe is the same) cut it back to move away from the rad. Search around here on the org for "350z uim 5.5 gen" or something, sure you can find a write up. Might even find a dyno or two.

If you could a G35 UIM or 350 UIM it could open the road for some more mods

okay, but where exacly do i cut and how do i weld it back on? do i need an adapter plate to weld on that has holes pretapped? or just cut up the g manifold so i only weld the TB connecting piece?

Maybe search for the owner of the pic above. Grabbed it off Google. IMHO, just do a SSIM. There's a couple cheap UIM listed in the classifieds right now ($60-$80). Do one for your car, swap, mod your current, sell for a profit! Makes sense to me!

I did the 350z manifold and 3/8" spacer. If you have a raised rev limit I would go ssim. If not I would just do the NWP BOP. I didn't see any benefit from the manifold, just lots of work. The owner of the manifold above is vsamoylov (or something like that) he was banned here ages ago so his posts don't show up with a search

it was either KRRZ350 or ajcool2 who did the 350 manifold swap pictured above. IIRC.

There are dynos showing the difference in gains between the SSIM and Z/GIM...SSIM won with a raised limiter, IIRC.

If your going SSIM and don't have an extended rev limiter beware you will not benefit from it

The Z33 IM has potential, but it's going to take lots of work to get there. Plenty of old threads in the All Motor forum on this. It's been a while, but IIRC some of the key factors were fitting it under the hood, whether to use the one with shorter or longer runners, the ability to manipulate the CVTC maps, and more.

Here are just a few threads, but you can search for more if necessary:

Thanks for the info!!!
im gonna use the SSIM and EMU for this summer aswell as hopefully getting a 3.5 TB kit from NWP engineering. + Underdrive Pulley & more stripping. im gonna scratch the idea of putting G35 UIM, doesnt seem worthwhile.

I think the problem with the oem G35 manifold is the stalactites design. the screws that goe through the OEM one make small blockages, like pedestals in the middle of the air flow. Some aftermarket designs eliminated those 6 "stalactites" for better air flow especially with the motordyne style spacer

not really. The range in quality on ssim jobs is incredibly huge. I've seen some that I wouldn't think made power anywhere over the stock design and I've felt that way about quite a few of them. Fact is the ssim is a custom job and someone might spend an hour on it and someone else might spend 20 hours on it. For the people who do a crappy job their results are not comparable to the well done manifolds.

Owning one will tell you that it does benefit without having an extended limiter.

Dumb question.
But does the plastic 3.0 manifold fit on the 3.5?
Downgrade?

Don't try so hard.

Also, I've sold two and still have one installed.
