Okay, today I was changing the oil and noticed the alternator and a/c compressor were drenched in it. I had the alternator replaced about a month ago, and it was brand new. I was expecting to find it in the same condition, but now it looks like it's 10 years old. Its appearance is not what I'm concerned about. I'm worried that the oil may damage it. I also replaced the vc gaskets about 6 months ago, and the oil cooler seal about 4 months ago. It seems to be around the top front area of the engine. Any idea where the leak could be? Thanks.

Front valve cover. On the passenger side corner. Take off your engine cover and inspect you valve cover for leaks really well.

Did you ever top off your oil and spill a little? The alternator is where the oil would go.

Upper oil pan seals, it can fling oil in that area of its leaking...

It may be coming from the front valve cover or in install of the alternator who ever installed it could of cracked the timing cover

If you replaced those other gaskets then it may be power steering fluid are you shure it's not red ?

Well Zig1ner, you were correct. It seems that the idiot mechanic that replaced my alternator either cracked the timing cover, or the silicone seal in that area. The leak is right on the upper alternator bracket. Now I have an uphill battle against Sears (I know, this is the last time I take my car to those monkeys with wrenches) to have them take responsibility for this. Wish me luck.
