2001 AC compressor bypass

I have bought an old 2001 Maxima SE 3.0 and recently my AC compressor locked up. Is there a way to bypass the AC pulley with a shorter belt or a bypass pulley itself? Part numbers or belt types need.

Thanks

All you would need is a smaller belt. I don't know any part numbers, but go and ask the parts guy.

You need to get a 6-rib belt that is 20 mm wide.
If the size is metric, you need a 920 mm length belt.
If the size is English, you need a 36 1/4 in length belt.

or real close to this size.

Did you have luck bypassing the Ac with this belt size? I need to do this to a 2000 Maxima and am curious how it went? Thanks!

The belt size I gave is correct. It has been used by many people, so you won't have any problems.

The hardest part will be the belt tensioner. The bolt in the center of the pulley is the locking bolt. Loosen the pulley bolt before you turn the adjusting bolt.

Thanks Dennis! The 36 inch belt did fit but for some reason I'm still loosing power. My brother left a little slack when tightening the belt so we are going to try to tighten it today & see if that does the trick! If not, my alternator may be shot.

So is your problem that the battery runs down? Get a voltmeter and see what the voltage is. A charged battery should measure about 12.5 volts before you start the car. With the engine running, the alternator should push the voltage to 14.2. If it is more than .5 volt higher or lower, the alternator has a problem.

My initial problem is the AC compressor locking up but after bypassing it my belt broke again and my power steering belt came apart. However, we've now discovered that the main pulley is bent which has somehow happened I'm guessing from the AC locking up! Replacing it & the belts this weekend. Hoping it goes well! I miss my car

Might as well get a UDP. Screw that 2 piece crap (and gain some power).
