Valvoline maxlife motor oil

Ok it's time for an oil chane again, I have been using conventional oil on all my oil changes. I've been told that I should switch to synthetic oil because it's better for maximas, is that true?
I have a 2001 AE, my engine has 185k miles, the car runs great with no problems. The car also leaks no oil, just leaks power steering fluid. So my question is should I use maxlife oil on my car? Can the maxlife cause any leaks? Also I know that maxlife has additives to swell seals, does that mean after using high mileage oil do I have to stay committed to that oil? Or could I switch from high mileage oil to synthetic or back to conventional ? Lastly will that oil harm the engine in any way? Sorry for such a long question. Thanks

If it runs well on conventional oil at 185k, I would just stick with it.

Get the power steering leak fixed. It's most likely the PS hose going bad.

Stay with the conventional oil, using synthetic at that mileage will start oil leaks
