Suede headliner

I absolutely hated the light gray headliner we have in our cars. So I decided I would wrap it in black suede. I spent a couple extra bucks for foam backed suede, it was worth it. And for the all the pillars and O-**** bars, and the other plastic pieces I used plastic die and it kept the original texture which I wanted.

Here it is after I got it out the the car. It took about an hour to remove. The used a glue from hell.

The sun roof panel. I just soaked the old foam in brake clean and it scraped right off.

Wrapped. That stain looking mark is just the flash.

After I died my map lights black. Check out the texture.

Sun visor taped off the air bag sticker. I used the same die I used on the map lights and the other plastic pieces.

And finally the finished product. (That's a towel on top of the car hanging over the window not the headliner sagging)

I love this. Looks more comfortable! Great work. How much was the material and how hard is it to put on?

Material was like 18 bucks a yard used 3.5 yards and I used loctite headliner glue got 3 cans at 7 bucks each. And that was my second headliner to do. Dude there cake. If you do it the best way to lay it on is do one half at a time start from the middle and go out

I always thought about this. The headliner can be wrapped to different color but the hard plastic cant. Can you give more detail on dyeing the plastic trims and visors please?

It's pretty easy man goes on just like spray paint but soaks in. It's pretty hard to make it run. If you want you can also wrap your a pillars with the suede too. I did it on my friends car looks sick

Get foam backed tho my friend didn't want to and you can feel the glue behind when you rub the suede

I see you removed the fabric from the sunroof card but did you remove the old fabric from the headliner itself or did you go right over it with the new stuff..? I am now thinking of doing mine in the Charcoal gray.

Do you think that plastic dye would hold up to the weather if you dyed the gray lip of the tail light? (the side that runs along the trunk)

I personally doubt it.. heat, cold, abrasives, UVA, UVB... better off with matt plastic aerosol. my $.02

I would go with a good plastics spray paint or an automotive grade paint with adhesion promoter and clearcoat.

This one was for plastic and it came out perfect man no need for clear coat. The luster it left matches that of the dash and the door panels
