Replacing your cabin air filter

Morning fellow enthusiasts.

I could not find clear information on replacing your Cabin Air Filter, so I made a high-definition video on the subject. It is very easy to follow, but if you have questions, just make a comment.

Thanks, and good fixing.

Also...for those willing to spend more time. IIRC per the manual the oem cabin filter is designed for lifetime use.
You want to wash it in some warm water a few times till it rinses clean and reuse it.
I have done this in the past myself.

found an alternate cabin filter, couldn't find a good carbonated for under $36, so I did some sleuthing and found one that was a perfect fit (I like it tight) at WallyWorld for $16.94.. will make another thread about it.

Nice, didn't know that. I bought my car at 100K miles, and for some reason, when I went to replace the CAF, noticed there wasn't one already in the car. It's like somebody went in there and just took at out (you can kind of tell in the video when I popped up the cover, and nothing was there lol).
Thanks for the positive feedback.

Yup...OEM cabin filter is resuable. Wash, rinse, repeat. Just make sure you let it fully dry otherwise you end up with stinky cabin.

Two in the pink, one in the stink? No...another kind of stink.

same on my car when i bought it off dad- no cabin air filter. surprised me since he had 98% of his service done at the dealership. i just can't believe the dealership would've cut corners like that and try to rip off their customers

^I've read that the very early production model 5th gens didn't come with air filters, only the home for them.

It was not standard on the 2000 GXE. I believe the 2000 GLE had the cabin filter and not sure about the SE.
