Coilover Help!

I'm buying a used set of ksport coilovers and they just come with the coilovers. But when I look at the new set they come with a bunch of things. Are they necessary? Please help

The spanners (wrenches) are very useful for making the adjustments but aren't 100% necessary. In a pinch you can use other wrenches like those adjustable oil filter wrenches or a hammer and a stamp to loosen and tighten the collars.

The only other accessory that normally comes with is a bracket for the each side to hold the brake lines. You can order that to make things nice and clean or fashion something yourself - tiewrap, etc. I had the exact same experience this winter. I bought a used set of Ksports with no accessories. I managed to take them completely apart and clean and lubricate them without spanner wrenches very easily. What condition are yours in? Does everything move freely? I spent about two weeks soaking everything to get them apart. I do live in snow/salt country though.

I too am in New York. But the coilovers look clean and no specs of rust. I'm going to check them out later today. What should I check for mostly?

First if they are assembled now I would take some measurements of the coilovers. Once you take them apart you want to know approx. where to put them back to before you put them on the car. Saves you screwing around with ride height for half a day. Make sure all the threads are clean of dirt and debris. Spray the threads down with PB Blaster or something while you are taking them apart. I took EVERYTHING off and cleaned then coated all the threads with anti seize and put back together. Anti seize will be your friend because these Ksports have a habit of rusting at the threads and locking in place. Check the dampening screws at the top of the shock and make sure they turn. I think there is a total of 16 or so "clicks". Did you get the 4 dampening sticks with them?

Not really. They're really just a fancy allen key.
