RWD VQ35 into maxima?

a friend of mine just put a built motor into his 03 350Z and I can get the motor for a real good deal.

I was wondering what are the main differences?

is the compression higher on the Z?

I know the cams are more aggressive but do the heads have better ports on the Z?

I also know the intake manifold on the Z is better...

You should read-up on the all motor section of this forum.
Most of the members are putting newer FWD VQ35s in their maximas.

im not looking to do much to my maxima. I was just wondering if I should just take the Z heads complete or just get the cams off the motor.

I may get the NWP spacers and OBX headers eventually and retain the stock exhaust , not trying to get too much unwanted attention. I have a turbocharged 89 CRX for my toy, the maxima is mainly for driving the kids around and till the crx is back from the body shop....

If the Maxima is just daily, keep it stock. Or you can put some bolt on mods.

I also have access to an 04 Z motor through my friends wrecking yard.

I know theres differences, but will the Heads and Cams and other parts fit in the reg vq35?? So far all ive got now is Intake, NWP spacer kit, and NWP block plate

I think ill just get nwp spacers and headers eventually. Right now i dont have any performance mods but i did gut the cats. I also put 350Z touring wheels on it and lowered the car with tbe megan springs and the car came with KYB struts....

Those 2 statements seem very contradictory. Taking the heads off of a timing chained DOHC V6 motor is almost as mush work as rebuilding the motor itself. And, if you were to put the 350z motor in your maxima, you would make things more difficult for your self because you would add more work to an already significant job, such as having to fashion up custom motor mounts because the RWD engine block has different mounting ppoints than the FWD block.

If the idea of transferring cylinder heads is an easy thing to you, why not consider doing a bit more with a FWD VQ35, and also make things a bit easier in the process?

Lookup 5.7 gens to see what I mean.

I was considering getting the heads for whenever the day comes when I may have to do a rebuild...
