P1572

Another code came up which is the brake switch P1572. is anyone familiar with this code? I went from clearing one code for another. Sounds just great. Need help. Is it a switch by the master cylinder????

This switch is on the brake pedal inside the car. There are 2 switches on the brake pedal, one for the brake lights and one for the cruise control. The cruise control switch is the P1572.

However - if you have codes P0605 or P1805 along with the P1572, fix those first and the P1572 may go away.

Here is a link that shows you which switch is which and how to remove the switch. See post # 8 for pictures.

Ok so i replaced the switches, both of them, but not new ones but i assume they work. Will i need to erase the code or will it erase by itself??! Also when i hit the brakes i hear a click noise. Is that normal???

I dont believe it will self-clear, if you cant have someone with a scanner clear it, disconnect the battery. As for the click, does it sound like a relay? If so it is the shift interlock disengaging to allow you to shift out of park most likely. If your car is a manual then it is something else entirely.

I have had p1572 pop up 3 or 4 times in the 6 years I have had the maxima and I just cleared it and thats all. Also, codes will self-clear once you go through a certain drive cycle (assuming the code is no longer a problem).

When i have it in park and hit the brake once and let it go, it makes like a squeal noise.
