5.5 6 Speed Axle

Is there a specific brand that you guys prefer (OEM or aftermarket)? I'm looking at Rock Auto and a new one seems pretty cheap.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...457&cc=1431954

It's for $54 brand new. I thought these axles cost more..or am I not looking at the right place?

You're looking at the right part. I have no personal experience with EMPI axles but I've never heard anything bad about them.

Rockauto usually sells good quality parts. Have you tried looking up some reviews online?

Damn you US guys have it good when it comes to parts pricing. That becomes a $95 axle by the time you ship to Canada.

If you order it let us know how it works out. I'm going to need a passenger side one soon.

Ok great, I wasn't sure since I was thrown off with the pricing lol.

Might purchase these soon and try it out. I just Googled the brand and it seems pretty decent from what I get reading other forums.

Rockauto axles = ****

They will mail you auto axles, I had them send me 9 sets before I got pissed off and demanded money back. They couldnt seem to mail the 6mt axles to me. Every time I got one it was the longer Auto axles. pure BS even after they removed them from the box and confirmed the length.

Autozone duralast gold are best aftermarket I have found. I ride slammed on them for 6-10 months before they go out, and with lifetime warranty I have changed 3 times no problem. OEM rebuilds are the only way to go tho, that or OEM new. Rebuilds are 100$ per side, new is $700 per side

Wow that's terrible. Thanks for your input. $700 new is OEM Nissan correct?

Correct. OEM new axles are very pricey.

Not necessarily with my Maxima, but I've had good experiences with OReilly house brand axles actually. No idea how they compare to autozone, but I'm more of an OReilly fan myself. I used them on my last 240sx with a welded differential and those axles held up for over a year before I sold the car. No sign of issues whatsoever. I know it's RWD vs FWD, but they held up and I abused them a good bit, especially driving Louisiana roads.

Oriley ordered the manual axles for me, except they were auto ones. Maybe they would be good if they were the right length

I got a pass side manual axle from oreilly in the store. Works perfect. It's w/e that main brand they carry is (A1 I think).

Napa is probably next best bet.
