cylinder 1 misfire

Got the cylinder 1 misfire code. Service engine soon flashes under acceleration. Does this mean coil is bad?

You can put it on a different cyl to see if the code transfers...what year is your car?

Just replace the ignition coil with OEM Genuine Nissan parts or OEM aftermarket parts (Rockauto: Hitachi). Check the sparkplug , if soaked with oil. I will not recommend exchanging faulty ignition coil because it will trigger another different code , the ecu might trigger mutiple cylinder misfire error code and impending error. I owned an OBDII scanner with live feed. I have noticed VQ35DE engine , everytime SES light lit up due to error code , most of the time it will also have impending code . To reset this impeding you need the Consult II of Nissan Stealership, or do it yourself by throttle relearn procedure or Drive Cycle.

It is a 2002, 3.5. Does the fact that the service light flashes on acceleration mean anything?

flashing cel means misfire. Swap the coil with another and see if the code switches to the other cylinder. Easy way to diagnose and it's free.
