Will a 4th gen stb and rsb fit a 5th gen?

Have a 99SE with a STB, RSB and RT Cat. Might be trading up to a 2k2SE. If I do, I want to transfer over the equipment if I can. I'm pretty sure the STB will but not sure about the other two pieces.

Not sure about the RSB...I would think there would be problems.

The FSTB can be ghetto rigged as has been described in other threads.

Cat...

I had to rig the stb on my 99. Needed to cut out a nub and re-route some lines. Sent the pics to Stillen back in the day. Not sure if they ever fixed things. Anyone else know of the other stuff?

FSTB won't fit. 5th gens have higer intake manifolds than 4th gens. the 5th gen FSTB is bent on each end to clear that housing.

RSB will probably fit..but u need a bracket for the ABS lines..if it didn't come with the RSB already..

RSB should be fine. You can 'make' the FSTB fit, but it may be a little tight....

Yes, both will fit. I just traded in my 99 for a 2k2. The strut tower bar took about 45 min to install cause there is a bracket that secures the airbox in the way. Carefully tap that out of the way. You will probably end up breaking one of the tack welds in the process. On the rsb, everything lined up perfectly. Custom maximas' site says there is slightly different hardware for the 2k2. The hardware from my 99 bar worked fine though.

uh huh might want to double check your fstb install!!! i accually was sent a 99 fstb when i had my 2k1 and i put it on with all of the excitment but quickly noticed that it was rubbing the intake manifold..... quickly called stillen and told them and they agreed they sent me the wrong one.... 99 doenst have an arch to it....00-01 does archs over the intake manifold so no rubbing is experienced!! IMO by having a 2k2 and all it wont fit without rubbing.... check for scratch marks under the bar itself and the top of the intake manifold..... might be different but like i said it doesnt fit the 2k1!!!

will

The strut tower bar definitely fits. Clears the intake manifold w/o any problems. It does just barely touch the airbox but it actually fits better than it did on my 99. It touched the hoodliner on my 99 but not on the 2k2. The ends of the bar are threaded and adjustable and I did have to lenghthen them about two threads.

i still think u have the 5th gen FSTB...there's noway the 4th gen FSTB will clear 5th gen intake manifolds...

this is 5th gen FSTB

and this is 4th gen FSTB

Looking at the picture of your Stillen bar on your 5th gen, I would definitely say that my bar is the 4th gen bar. You appear to have much
more clearance of the intake manifold than I do. I have less than 1/2"
but it does clear. Chalk it up to production variance?

Ok. I'll hold on to them until I get a new 2k2. If they don't fit, they go up for sale then.
Test drove a 2k2 today. Blue SE auto with gray leather, all options but navi. Muchhh more ***** than my 99. I was mildly impressed. I think I'll be trading up when my lease is up. So we are talking roughly 200hp at the wheels, stock-right. High 14's for the auto? I'm psyched.

You wrong there Irvine, I got a 4th gen FOR SURE FSTB and it clears the intake manifold by at least 3/4" if not 1" for sure. ASK nauman, he saw it, he agreed it is fine.

You can tell if it is a 4th gen or 5th gen, a 4th gen has a very little raised middle section, the 5th gens is like almost twice as raised in the middle of the FSTB.

Man, this thread is confusing!

Bigdogjonx, your 4th Gen FSTB fits becuase it's the 2001, and not a 2k2. None of Irvine's pics were of a 2k2, and you are right that the 4th Gen bar will fit up to 2001. The 2k2 though, has the 3.5L engine and is waaaay taller than the 2000-2001 3.0L engine. Unless Eric has some freakishly tall 4th Gen FSTB, all new buyers of FSTBs for their 2k2 Max will have to buy the Stillen, Courtesy, or "Trust" bar.

I shouldn't have to sort this out for you guys!

Bman, the bar I have is the courtesy bar. It does appear to have more bend in it than the 4th gen Stillen bar which could explain why it DOES fit. I would not classify it as a 5 minute bolt on but it is certainly not as some have classified as rigged. I have digital camera if anyone wants pictures.

irvine78: Ohhh, yes I see the diff in the pics. The straight Stillen bar I have will not fit. Guess they'll go up for sale in a few months.

ok..well, if the 4th gen FSTB fits in ur engine bay, then use it.
but i'm sure if there are different designs for each vehicle, there must be good reason behind the different designs....but like i said, for some reason, if you have good clearance between the FSTB and the intake manifold..then more power to ya!

someone wanted to see and compared the engines of 2K-2K1 and 2K2? well, wish granted!

here's one for the 2K-2K1

and here's one for the 2K2
