CV Joints?
I was taking my friend for a testdrive last night after I installed my first performance mod, a strut bar. I have always been one to hang turns HARD -- all the time. He made a comment which I thought was sarcastic about my cv joints failing soon due to my driving style. He was being serious and seems to think that they will fail soon, as of this I am now paranoid. I have a 2000 with about 36k on the od and I drive the car hard, yank turns, wot, ect ect. Am I at risk, or is my VW Corrado friend just feeding me bad info...?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Taking turns hard or fast will not put additional ware on your CV joints. A hard right or left full lock turn and a clutch dump will put a good strain on them.
CV joints fail because the rubber boot that protects them rips open and dirt gets in and the grease flys out. Inspect your CV joints every time you change your oil. Look for small cracks that start to develop as your car gets up there in mileage and age. Replace the boots before they rip open and your CV joints should last the life of your car.
