The controller is nice, but will cause some damage. Talk to stillen about it they will tell you about the error it can cause in your displacement.

Spoke to Stillen before I bought the piece and they didn't mention any problem with the AFC. What have you heard about this so I could try to verify it? Thanks for the info...

The supercharger is made to give a certain boost, at a level that the engine will consider safe. Hopefully you don't raise it to much. Have you considered a custom spearco intercooler?

Im boosting about 7,8psi and I tuned the fuel on the dyno so I dont run lean or too rich. Thought about spearco but will loose boost and the space is gonna be tricky. Need custom pipes and some customizing in the front end. Already thought about it. Im having a custom water injected cooler made. So what was it that you heard about the ApexAFC?

The controller is great. But the maxima ECU was heard to reject the settings do to confusion. Damb nissans are getting too complex. Raw engines=raw power. if you get to high tech, you begin to to get a bigger rick for compications

My question is that when you got it down(the AFC unit), it blocks your view in the rear-view mirror right?

The AFC will not raise boost (not a boost controller). Also, we can't use a boost controller because boost is dependent on the pulley size.

Stillen is talking out their @$$ again. Who did you talk to over there?

Looks good, Juan!

From what I know, the factory ECU overrides the AFC settings once you go above correction factors of 10%. I don't know if this applies to the newer vehicles but this is what happened with the 300ZXs.

same thing with the 4th gens...the ECU keeps on changing the settings back to stock..

For tweaking purposes, the AFC is not useless with supercharged vehicles (as some people have stated). Most adjustments are below 10% to richen/lean the a/f mixture.

Trust me Ive seen it with my own eyes...we did about 10 different dyno's and after a few the fuel map starts showing how the ecu tries to compensate for the adjustments made. Although there are a few different ways of fixing this problem. One is adding another injector and controlling that one injector to add the fuel needed when the boost kicks in. Another way that the installer advised me is that greddy(E-Manage) is coming out with a ecu piggy-back that will not allow the stock ecu to reset itself. That has not been tested yet but as soon as that greddy piece is available I will let you guys know how it would work.

But how can it reset it self? I don't doubt you that it happend...but what does the ecu do to reset...It's not like it can send a signal the afc to stop it? Just seems odd...I told my mechanic about it and he though i was insane.

sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm not on as much as I use to.

The AFC intercepts the MAF signal before it reaches the ECU, so the ECU is still able to override what the AFC is sending.
