Coolant reservoir rattle

Didn't wanna make new thread but clearly there is nothing on this anywhere..

So the coolant reservoir, stupid white plastic tank, rattles slightly. I've been trying to track this sound down for close to a year now and finally I found it.

The sound is very faint, you can only hear it when driving slowly over bumpy roads, and during quiet times like early morning or late night. But I can hear it, and I know it's there, it has been driving me nuts.

I tried to tighten the bolts a bit (without breaking) but that doesn't help. Just seems like a bad design and the bolts that hold it aren't doing anything, it still moves side to side (not up/down) very slightly and causes plastic rattle sound.

Anyone have any idea what I can do to completely secure this thing so it doesn't move?? I really have no good ideas right now for this..

help?

Put thin foam padding around it and bolt it back down.

Just checked mine (2000 Max) and it's solid as a rock. It does not move side to side. Only with moderate force can I get it to jiggle and rattle up and down. On mine, the rattle comes from where the male plastic piece goes into the female receptacle at the bottom. Where it's rattling, I imagine a small piece of dynomat or an old piece of rubber should do the trick. Even those circular dampener bumpers sold at Home Depot etc to prevent kitchen cabinet doors from slamming would do the trick.

^ Thanks to you both for the suggestions.

Dont know why I didnt think of those things... I guess since its already rattling with the bolts dead tight I figured mayde I needed a stronger reinforcement..

Im gonna try putting some kind of padding on it, hopefully I can pinpoint where its hitting the frame too.

Seems like the rattle is just from the mounting points cuz the bolts dont hold tight enough (mayb got a bit loose with age)
