Drop resistor mod?

Hey everyone. I'm running my stock 01 AE maxima on the track on Sunday. Was wondering if anyone has any tips to get better times? I'm auto and just have a muffler delete. What is the drop resistor mod? Thanks in advance

The drop resistor determines how fast the transmission shift solenoids work. The more resistance, the slower and smoother the shifts. The less resistance, the faster and harder the shifts. If you short out the resistor, the transmission will slam into gear so hard the you'll think a run away big rig tractor trailer truck ran into the rear end of your car. Don't be expecting the transmission to last very long if you drive it all the time with the resistor shorted.

^^ Dennis already said it..

It increases line pressure in the tranny when you shift. You do NOT want to run your car with the drop resistor shorted all the time. Tranny will not last.

Most people that do the mod, properly...Install a WOT switch so that the drop resistor works normally at all times, until you go WOT. This can be useful at the track...

Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing the drop resistor mod, in any way. I'd recommend a Transgo kit instead, it's cheap too and will not break your tranny.
