I35 REAR heated seat wiring question
I35 REAR heated seat wiring question
Recently put I35 seats in my '01.
Despite a few complications with the driver side electronics.. The fronts were easy.
Now im on to wiring the backseat heating elements and switches. Ive done some thread surfing and none of the installs included any info on where they ran their wires and mounted switches.
I was wondering where they were wired to..
Im not sure if any of the people whove installed I35 seats still float around on the .org anymore..
so im open to suggestions from those of you who havent done them.
Thank you!

installing I35 seats ain't hard get the switches with pigtails and all color match the wires and the wire that is left is going to be your power source you can feed off your front heated seats just put a bigger fuse and thats it... it is easy my 5.5 had cloth i installed front heated seats wired them up and all now im searching for i35 rear heated seats

What made the swap easier for you is the fact that you have a 5.5.. The 5.0 is a little more complex
Since the Maxima did not offer heated rear seats, all wiring will have to be custom.
In the I35, the rear seats were wired into the fuse used by the auto trans shift lock mechanism (fuse # 19). That would work if you had a 5.5 Maxima, but you don't, so don't even consider it. The 5.0 and 5.5 electrical systems are different.
In you 2001, I would suggest tapping into fuse # 28, used for the Canadian daytime running lights and not used by the U.S. Maximas. Fuse 28 (bottom row, 4th from right end) might not be plugged in, it should be a 10 amp fuse, which is what the heated seats use.

This won't help with heated seats but might if you got some pretty gal in the Max.
After much scientific testing, found out long ago that if you remove your headrests / move front seats all the way forward / tilt front seat backs rearward- they will move all the way down to being flush with the rear seat. Makes it kinda like the longest recliner you've ever seen, and a lot more room for !?!?!?. Hope you got tint... :-)

Also helps having a window shade and a stereo with a remote

I also had thoughts of going from where the heated mirror wires would come from..but im not sure if theres a seperate fuse and etc(been too busy to investigate further..)
If you are going to put in the DRL module, then my second choice for a power source would be to tap onto the Accessory relay, either pin 3 or pin 5 is the output to the cigarette lighter. You would need to add you own 10 amp fuse if you do it this way.

I was gonna do the ebay kit with nissan switches.

i'm interested to see where the front heated seats come off of, and maybe replicate that by populating an empty fuse spot and running new cables/wire if possible.
I wonder if it's possible to combine to heat seat kits to get the bottom center of the rear though with heaters going that might not be necessary.
I want my passengers to have the deluxe accommodation except a/c, i don't think it's possible to pipe A/C to the rear, i think you need a higher end car for that.
can either of these cables/lines handle the load? Personally i'd hate to draw off any thing else especially the cigarette lighter if i have laptop hooked in. you'd better bleive i'm dropping pay check or the better part of one on a kick *** over kill battery.

JonBlz suggested using the front seat fuse for both front and rear heated seats by putting in a higher amperage fuse. I don't like that idea as the wires may not be able to take the extra current.
I suggested using the DTRL fuse if you have a United States Maxima, otherwise run a wire from the Accessory relay to a fuse that you add in and then to the rear seats. Either way is custom wiring and will take some effoet to do.
The Maxima does send cooled a/c air to the back seats. It is when you use the floor outlets. But they didn't really do a very good job on the design, because there isn't very much air flow.
feed power from the front heated seats the wire is green then add a bigger fuse like 20a instead of 10a or you can run power to an accessory from the fuse box with an add a circuit and bang
Front heated seats were an option for the 5th gen Maximas, so the fuse is there. In both the 5.0 and the 5.5, it is fuse # 9. Rear heated seats were not offered, so this is where you have to improvise.

does anyone know how many watts the 12v cig lighter is good for?
REALLY!? Do we have any pics or diagrams of these rear vents?
Okay, so i finally found/made myself a set of door panels from an I35/I30...
Ive got the wiring completed now, the only thing i have to do is attach the power wire to the add a circuit i used in the DTRL fuse slot. Theres two fuse spots in this add a circuit, i know the 10A goes in the one..
What size would be best for the other?
Online ive seen some people add heated seats in the back and use 7.5A.. but those werent in maximas..
id rather ask you guys than experiment and turn my Max into a nice, toasty, campfire

In the I35, Nissan used a single 10 amp fuse that served both seats. I don't follow what the other 2 fuses would be for. I'll take a look at the I35 wiring diagram again and see if I missed something.

I looked at the 2003 I35 diagram and the only fuse used is the single 10 amp fuse in the dash panel fuse block. If you are tapping into a fuse already in the dash panel fuse block, then you don't need any other fuse. Do these extra fuses plug into the wiring of the add a fuse thing you bought? If so, they would be duplicating the fuse in the dash panel fuse block and are not necessary.

Where do you get your wiring diagrams from (noob question i know)
But since you asked, and im a nice guy who doesnt want your kids to get frostbite on their rear ends.. ill post one up within the week if all goes well.
If I forget, remind me lol
thanks bruh, and once again the fsm ninja comes thru.....Hey DanNy,
Dennis and djfrestyl need their own smilies....

I use the Nissan FSM.

Section EL (electrical) has the majority of the diagrams, but there are diagrams in other sections, too. Use the IDX (index) section to find where the diagram is.
I get my hare-brained, wild azzed ideas from... oh wait, that's not what you asked.

I have to say it takes a special kind a view point to understand all those lines and points....
