Weird clacking on start-up
So for about a year or so, when the car is cold & the temperature outside is cold (winter/fall months), it makes a weird clacking noise upon start-up. When the engine is some-what warm or fully warm its fine. It's starting to get on my nerves now.
It's similar to the video posted, except I only have the quick clack which is the second noise being produced, not the first whistle.

yep sounds like timing chain noise to me too
if it gets bad enough and the guides go, chain can skip teeth. my Hardbody had timing chain noise at startup and i never bothered doing anything about it, nothing ever came of it

I'm religious with my maintenance & do not drive my car hard whatsoever. The car has been making this noise upon frigid start-ups for about 25000km now & hasn't gotten worse

its nothing you did wrong. various Nissan engines with timing chain like VQ, KA24, Z24, etc are known for timing chain noise

my Nissan truck had timing chain noise at startup since i owned it, 240k it went to the junkyard still running fine. its up to you, change your guides/tensioner or gamble it but expect to possibly need a new engine eventually if the guides give out
