third taillight removal???

third taillight removal???

just a curious question.
i have a 2000 gxe with the optional spoiler.
what i would like to know is can the third tail light be removed since the spoiler came with one also.
is there any rewiring needed or can i just remove the light.
thanks in advance.

I dont think you want to remove the OEM third brake light all together, cause there is a hole in the rear deck for the wire to come out from and a hole where it fits into. It would look ugly, just unplug it if it bothers you.

Um to remove it, I believe you either have to push it to the glass and lift up, or you have to pull forward and lift up. It is fairly simple.

Yeah that's what I did. You have to push in the sides, because if I recall, the little plastic hooks are there. Don't remove it, because there is going to be a gaping hole there, but instead, just unplug it (be careful to keep the wire to the spoiler led's connected; that's how the spoiler led's know to turn on) and secure it somewhere.

But I'd do it... I have a white one and the reflection of the taillight against the front of the spoiler is annoying as hell.

When or if you ever get the car tinted, just remove that third tail light, and let him tint the thing tint all the way down. Then put it back. The tint will knock out almost alot of the view from the outside.

thats what they did with mine, and you can still see it from the outside... good thing someone posted this question, its been really bugging me
