2003 Maxima on security lockout?

HELP!! I have a 2003 maxima that has been sitting for about a year. nothing was wrong with it when i parked it. Since then the battery died, Ive replaced the battery but it wont start. It sounds like it is trying to turn over and i think i hear the fuel pump trying to engage but .. nothing . I thought maybe the fuel filter was clogged so i replaced it but ... nothing. Ive been told due to the security system on this model it sounds like the chip in the key has lost its programming to the car. the security light on the dash is on when i try to start the car but there again it wont turn over. Had a locksmith come out to reprogram the key but that didnt work. I tried the turn it to the on wait 10 seconds turn it back blah blah blah but that didnt work either. any other suggestions other than a Nissan Dealership?

Drop the oil pan, oil probably turned to mud...

How much gas was in the tank while being stored?

Did you change the filter yourself?if so check over your work....

Have you tried starting fluid? Gasoline looses its potency over time and will even start to thicken and turn to a jelly. You should drain the gas out of the tank and put in fresh stuff, but the fuel lines and injectors also need to be flushed.

I had same exact problem. Also had a locksmith come out and reprogram the key but said he couldn't communicate with the computer. It ended up being my Fuse under the dash. It had to do with injectors I forgot what number fuse but just take out all the fuses and replace the bad ones.
