Door and boot cylinder lock

Door and boot cylinder lock
I have a 2000 Maxima SE and the key has never worked in the door or the trunk. Not sure if they have seperate keys I never got or if the cylinder is jacked or not.
Question is, can I buy a cylinder like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/DOOR-LOCK-SET-W-KEY-L-R-00-01-02-03-MAXIMA-00-01-02-03-04-SENTRA-/271455927436?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f3408bc8c&vxp=mtr and do they work for both the door and the boot ?
Also is there point in re keying the cylinder so I have just one for the ignition and the doors ? Can it be easily re keyed by myself to save money ?

The Maxima uses one key for all the locks, door, ignition, trunk/boot.
I bet somebody broke into the car and destroyed the original ignition switch. When it was replaced, the ignition switch was not re-keyed to match the original.
But the photo on e-bay is of 2 door locks, not one door lock and one boot/trunk lock.

Something needs to be re-keyed and it can be done 2 different ways. You have 4 cylinders that use the key - door, ignition, glove box trunk/boot.
You can have a locksmith re-key either 3 cylinders or 1 cylinder.
If you buy new cylinders, they would have to be re-keyed, unless you get all 4 cylinders, so I don't see any reason or advantage to buying new parts.
However, re-keying isn't the cheapest thing. I don't really know the price, but I would bet it would cost $75 per cylinder. And that is if you remove the cylinder from the car and lay it on their counter. House calls add about $100. Call several locksmiths and get quotes.
Also, if you get the ignition switch re-keyed, you will have to get the keys re-programmed to the car. More dollars.

I called and they will rekey the cylinder for $45 if I take it to them. I think I will just do that for the door as I have now is a fob to open it. If the battery dies I cant get in. $45 seems like a decent enough price.

Yeah, $45 is a lot better than the $75 I was guessing at. At least you will be able to get in the car.
But you have me believing that you only have one key. If all you have is one key, you'll be in deep in armadillo doo-doo if you lose your keys. Get another, preferably two, made and programmed to the car.
