Head gasket issue time for fun.

I posted sometime last year about my 2003 SE in which my wife blew the head gasket in it. Anyways I guess now it's going to become my project car as I finally got around to buying the wife a new car and I have my beater to drive around so I'm going to try and have fun with my 03 as I tear her down. I guess the main thing for this post is when I have it torn down to change out the head gaskets and make sure nothing else is wrong and assuming that's all I'm changing and don't need a whole new engine what should I look to change for performance or anything I should do while it's opened up. Or should I just say f-it all and save up for an 09 vq35 (if I'm remember right I can put up to that in the car). Any input is greatly appreciated everyone, you guys rock.

Replacing head gaskets in a DOHC V6 is alot of work.Upgrading to an 09 Vq35 is alot of work. Since both require.......alot of work, why not go for the 09 VQ? All the work will result in a more powerful motor. Read up on the 5.7 gens.

Right on yea I'll read up on them. The work is much of a problem anymore as I have all the time I need now and my buddy whose a mechanic is gonna help me out when we hang out. If going the 09 route is about the best choice to do then Ill start reading up on that and looking for motors. I guess then I should say when I get one is there anything I should do short of boosting it.
