01 Maxima tranny

Recently When driving the car it feels like it slips into neutral and the tranny won't shift into second gear. When it happens I pull to the side and wait for couple mins and then it drives like nothing is wrong with it. I don't know if the tranny is bad or needs a new sensor or what ?

You mean it'll just rev and not go anywhere?

Yes it would just rev and not go anywhere and after 5 minutes or so it would start driving like normal again.

It sounds like your Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Check out this thread - https://maxima.org/forums/5th-genera...ion-issue.html .

Specifics, does it happen when engine is cold? My car has the 4AT and on the coldest days in morning when engine is cold rarely the transmission will not shift from 3rd to 4th and generally will seem rough/slippy until it warms up. At 165k miles for me its likely transmission slowly starting to go, i maintain it well and no problems otherwise.
