Hello All 2003 maxima here 114k miles.




I just got 2 trouble codes I need some help with. P0021 & P0011. Both suggest: IVT control solenoid open or shorted; cam/crank sensors out of phase; dirt buildup at control valve. What can you suggest? Both cam sensors have been replaced in the last 12 months. Car seems to run fine. Please advise.

Based on Nissan TSB, you need to replace both camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor. You must only used OEM Genuine Nissan Sensor or the the code will reappear. If you replaced it with OEM Genuine Nissan sensor, try to clean it and replace the crankshaft position sensor. Delete the code and do the drive cycle. I recommend to replace the engine oil with 5w/30 castrol GTX. If the code reappear clean the IVT control solenoid if defective replace it.
