You can buy Tokico Blue or Tokico illumina at autoanything.com which is far better than KYB. Tokico brand is the OEM Genuine Nissan struts the only difference OEM tokico is fluid type while Tokico blue is gas type.

I had Illuminas on my 5.5th Gen for years and they got too hard too find and too high since TokicoUSA went bankrupt...I switched to Koni Yellows which are easier too get, less expensive and more robust....

H&R springs? i'm also curios what fresh set of OEM stockers would be like. since some say the illuminas are softer than stock. i also wonder if coil overs still ride smoother than soon to be completely shot struts. mine are there way out bu, the car doesn't see saw when i stop yet. the suspension BANGS and bottoms somewhat often though.

Illuminas are not softer than stock unless you're on #1 setting maybe #2 other than that you're much stiffer than stock. Blues most say are softer than stock I couldn't tell you I never had them.

How reliable are the KYB's? Stock reliability? Or somewhere close?

I have around 100,000 miles on a set of kybs on my 2k maxima gxe and they are still going strong. Installed another set on my 03 maxima SE and have 30,000 miles on them. Both are with stock springs. I just bought another 03 SE this week and I have a set of kybs on the way. This time I am changing the springs. I have a set of h&r s coming.
