Door Hinge and Electrical Connection ?

My car is 2000 Maxima with worn out door hinges - driver’s side front. Need to replace both hinges. I saw some posts about washers and shims. Mine are beyond that.

When I remove the door stop on the car frame, there is the electrical connection for the PW & PL. It looks like there’s is bolt that secures the connection to the car.

Do I just unscrew that bolt and pull the connection apart ? ? ?

How do I remove that electrical connection, in order to remove my door and obtain access to the door hinges mounted on the door frame ? I think is the correct way to replace my door hinges ?

And when I put the connection back together, does it just snap in ? ? should use electrical contact sealant ?

The door hinges that is secures to the car frame, there seems to be some type of sealant, what type of sealant is it ?

Any recommended places to purchase the door hinges ?

Any feed back is much appreciated !!

Thanks

I can't speak to any sealant on the hinges but the electrical connection is simple to disconnect. Just do as you say, loosen the bolt and then pull the connector out. I don't think the bolt will actually come out of the connector all the way but it will detach completely from the other side. And just reconnect and re-tighten the bolt. No contact sealant of any kind is needed.

I just did this a few months ago. Loosen the bolt and the plug pulls apart. It's really a great design. You might have to help it a little with a sharp screwdriver.

You can use any good quality caulk on the hinge. Find one that doesn't stand out too much against the color of the car.

Having a ratcheting, flex head wrench really helps with this job.
