'03 Maxima replacing headlight assembly, now car won't turn

Hello, I was replacing my headlight assembly on I turned on the car and it started fine. Then I turned the lights on and the brights on and it started to make a weird noise. So I turned the car off. Now it won't turn over when I start it. The battery is not dead and I checked the fuses on of the headlights and they did not seem blown. all the lights come up on the dashboard when i try starting the car. it seems to crank fine but it does not catch. Also the security light does not stay on. Any suggestions? I read a similar thread about this but it did not get resolved.

The security light should not be on. It should turn off the moment you insert your ignition key, and it should stay off until you remove your key. If the light is on while you try to start the car, then the NATS/NVIS subsystem is preventing your car from being started (it does this by inhibiting fuel injection).

Does the car start when you remove/disconnect the lights you just installed? It would be help to know the answer .... Edit: I now notice you did that.

Check all your fuses again. In particular, fuse #54, $55, #68, and #69 in your Fusible Link Box (by the battery). Also, are you sure you connected the lights properly?

One more thing: Get yourself a copy of the FSM from http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Maxima/2003/. You'll need at least the "EL" and "SC" sections, but download them all. Page SC-10 of the FSM describes the conditions required for the starter to engage.
