P0430-Fix or Say goodbye to Max

Everyone. I have 2001 Max with 218,000 miles. Car runs great but getting the dreaded P0430 code. I know its my precat. How long can the car run before dying? I am getting rid of the car in two months and hoping it can last for 8 more weeks. I know gas mileage will suck. Think I am saying goodbye to my Maxima. Going with either Infiniti, Volvo, BMW, Saab or Lexus. I've had the car 11 years and put 175,000 miles with not many issues. Overall a great car that has style without the "box" car styling now on some new models.

Just put a spacer on the O2 sensor and you'll be fine. Look up HHO adapter or O2 spacer on eBay. Put it on and reset the code. You should also gut the cats, but it shouldn't be an issue within 8 weeks.

Easy and cheap. You're welcome.

Yup. Worked for me and my P0430 code. Best $10 I ever spent. I bought mine on Amazon from the link below.

Amazon.com: Blox Racing BXFL-00108 Check Engine Light Eliminator Adapter: Automotive Amazon.com: Blox Racing BXFL-00108 Check Engine Light Eliminator Adapter: Automotive

Note, it doesn't come with a crush gasket, but I installed it without the gasket and it was OK. Space is a little tight, but it does fit. I installed the spacer onto the O2 sensor and then on the O2 location. Took about 20 minutes because of the tight space and my big hands. Sometimes I wish I had girl hands...

You can also use 2 spark plug non foulers. Drill the end out of one and insert it into the other, install, then screw the sensor in.

Got the P0430 code again today and P0325(sensor 1 bank 1) black wire. Would you guys put foulers on all 4 O2 sensors or just the black sensor?

They go on the rears.

That code doesn't mean they're clogged just that they're not
lighting up enough to be working 100%.

Drive 80mph for acouple miles might clear some stuff up.
and smell like rotten eggs.

They go on the secondary sensors which is AFTER the pre-cat. On a 2k maxima with Cali emissions that's the red and the white O2 sensor cords.

I agree with everyone here! I've had gutted precats for 3yrs and I just got the code this year. Crazy right? But a local machine shop here in NC have pre-cut o2 sims. Pay $13 and reset the light and the code has not been back for over 3k and I passed inspection. The fouler/sims should go on the rear o2's. For bank 2 it would be the sensor in the down pipe and for back 1 it's the sensor in the y-pipe. Hope it goes away
