2003 Best value clutch upgrade?
Hey guys, I'm new here, mostly experienced in 4th gens, but I bought myself a really nice 03 with a 6 speed a few months ago and it's time to start my upgrades, clutch and brakes first. What are yalls opinions of the best clutch to handle around 350 whp for the money? Thanks in advance

OEM equivalent may hold, but idk about boosted tq. I assume it would hold for S/C (linear power), but maybe not turbo.
I imagine a weak one would never hold trying to launch with slicks, though.

Will the 350z clutch work? Also does it have any difference in clamping power over oem? I'm pretty sure the clutch in my car is the one it left the factory with, and it still grabs very hard even at 128,000 miles, so if the 350z has a slight upgrade it should do the trick

Yes you are correct where the 350z clutch disk is sprung. The OEM disk of the maxima is a solid hub and its a dual mass flywheel. You shouldn't use a sprung disk with a DMF. There's a guy selling a JWT flywheel buy that and get a JWT clutch kit.
I am using a JWT kit with an aasco flywheel. Grabs nice and revs very easily. Good luck with your huge amount of choices. JWT also has an upgraded clutch kit that has a larger clamping force that would work well for a turbo application. Check into comp clutch as well which makes a nice product. Honestly there are MANY good companies for clutches just stay away from fleabay.

If you are ditching the dmf i wouldnt get an unsprung disk, unless you only track your car. A its hard on the transmission and B its a PITA in any traffic situation.
But yes they do work. ANY Pressure plate or disk combination will work from the 350z. The flywheels do not work, and if you get a clutch kit for the 350 you'll have to supply your own throwout bearing as the rwd ones are totally different.

But, I also know how to rev match and properly shift a manual

I'm not saying its going to hurt the transmission right away.. but over a good year or so the gears actually take more abuse beacuse of the lash of the engine not being dampened by either a dmf OR a sprung disc. That's whether you drive ***** out or not. The gears WILL wear down quicker than having it dampened. I've physically seen it when opening up a customers 350z transmission. 1/16th off a gear is a lot more than you think.
I wasnt saying anyone here doesnt know how to drive a manual car. Doesnt matter if you rev match or not, if you let off the gas in gear all that inertia has to go somewhere?? With a dampened disc the springs absorb it, with nothing the gear absorbs it.

I would also assume that the tranny will still last the life of the car, though. I mean, 160 for a clutch kit (oem replacement) or spend over double for sprung... It doesn't make fiscal sense to me (disc is going to wear at the same rate). IF the tranny ever wears out, I'll swap in a 6th gen one (both of my 6 speeds have no synchro issues, as of yet, though). I can guess that I'll get something like 50-75k out of a clutch depending on city driving.
Moot point if you're going for higher performance, but for N/A power, I'm going to stick with cheap lol.

Ok my clutch started slipping. I want to get a light weight flywheel and a 350z clutch. I think I read somewhere that the through out bearing or something like that is different...
So do I just need to buy a 350z clutch kit and light weight flywheel?
