Went all kinds of crazy directions today...

Max + Snow - Chains = Fun!!

We got some decent snow in the Seattle area today and I got another chance to play with my max. Getting out of our apartments was tough, hill climbing on ice without chains was neet. It's all about momentum. Going down one hill I ended up sideways, the ABS didn't even bother trying to stop the car.

Outside my apartments I began to toy with the ebrake whee! Further down the road I saw a few sedans that had beached themselves... OOPS!

All in all the max and kumhos performed well... I still wish I had a WRX

Thanks we only get snow maybe once or twice a year so I don't think they're steel, copper maybe or perhaps aluminum.

Kumhos + snow = death

Trust me kumhos are really bad on snow. But hell for the price they do everything else well. Gotta scrimp somewhere!

It's all about the bling bling baby. I took them to Cali this christmas and hit snow on the oregon border... chained up (with the eibachs this wasn't fun) and it did fine. I'm sure in any serious snow I would be crying. But for once or twice a year its a blast to have a lack of traction.

That was pretty wild wasn't it Jon? I took my Pilot's out in the snow for a housewarming party Saturday night (FYI...I live in the same area as punkdork). All these weak Washington state drivers with their hazards in the right lane because there was a little snow on the ground (I moved here from Boston). Pretty funny stuff. The Pilot's did okay on the snow...actually excellent...a few patches of black ice would have gotten me if I hadn't been paying attention.

As far as the comment about getting the sand out of your car and car washes...I love this state...no sand or salt, really, on the roads. I think that King County only has about four snow plows in their possession and they didn't make it to my neighborhood.

By the way...I hate ABS. Having learned how to drive in snow in Washington D.C. and Boston with both a rear wheel drive '81 Caprice Coupe and an old Mazda pick-up, I like having control of my brakes!!!

Seattle got something like 1/2" last year and it melted as soon as it hit the ground. It snowed all weekend long and the streets are bare right now...just a little wet. It just doesn't get cold enough in the Seattle metro for snow. Now, less than an hour away (in the upward direction), there is plenty of snow. Three hours away is the greatest place in North America, IMHO, for winter...Whistler-Blackcomb.

In this town, everybody can handle an earthquake but a little snow scares the hell out of them.
