Any 03 Maximas came with CVT?

Ok im asking this question because I was in the salvage yard today and saw an 03 NIssan Murano, 3.5 engine with the cvt transmission. I took the rear valve cover off of it because im thinking it is the 6th gen engine with the better valve cover, so i was unsure. I compared it to one that came off an 03 max. Of course the 03 valve cover had damaged spark plug tube seals, and the murano did not. SO im still not sure if i got the correct valve cover although the murano did seem to be made better.

No, it's probably irrelevant, and what good is there in taking a VC with 13 yr old seals?

If you want to seal it up, then just throw on some RTV or install new tube seals. I wouldn't expect old ones to last too long.

Buying a brand new VC to fix a leak has always struck me as odd. It's just a waste of money. But I'm sure Nissan dealers are happy

17 dollars on ebay for fel pro. 18 at junkozone. 19 at napa. 26 at oreilly.

Someone should have one locally if you can't wait or at least get it next day.

One of the most mass produced motors most definitely has tons of parts for sale.

Wow i didnt know that, most of the threads ive read said the tube seals were built into the valve covers on 5.5 gen and above. I didnt know you could get them separate lol as I only have one that needs to be replaced which is the #5.

It's just a simple seal that pops in and out.

thanks for that info, i was sitting here racking my brain thinking that those tube seals were built into/non replaceable on the 5.5 gen, and i replaced them individually on my 4th gen and still have the seal puller tool.

Good video on that link too.

yeah the 4th gens are just yank the seal out and press it back in correctly. I dont know where you see the valve covers at for $40 lol, I just checked from the dealer and they are $250 for both on 5.5 gen, and $150 just for the rear on 6th gen, very expensive id say! I just grabbed one from the junkyard with good seals for $11.

Prices went up recently apparently.
Year or so ago I got 6th gen valve covers and gaskets for just over $100 total.
