rev limiter removed - car gauge pro back pressure

Hey guys,

So, the other day I was getting the infamous random misfire at idle. It only happens at idle. So, I figured I would mess around with car gauge pro. Under "active tests" it lists cylinders 1-8 (1-6 for us obviously). I figured I would try to shut them down individually to see if I could locate the cylinder causing the misfire at idle (if a cylinder had anything to do with it - could be an intake leak somewhere). Anyway, my engine light was flashing (misfiring) when I turned cylinder 1 "off." The motor stumbled and barely stayed running. Turned the cylinder back on. I did this for all 6 cylinders. Afterwards the car seemed to be running much smoother - and while idling - no misfire... So, I took the car out for a little rip. Right off the bat I noticed something strange. I have a catback 3" lou's custom setup for exhaust. The back pressure was crazy! Pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop on down rev. This has never happened before. Also, during one of the pulls, I noticed, wait, did I just go over rev limiter? Indeed I did. So, by running this active test, it removed rev limiter, and, made more back pressure magically appear. What the heck is going on? If I shut the car off, then turn it back on, it goes back to normal. No popping back pressure just a smooth down rev, and rev limiter is engaged again. I'm very confused. What do you guys think is going on? Some magic power car gauge pro is making? I'm confused. How could hitting a button cause that dramatic of an increase in back pressure? Also the car seemed to run better. While sitting at lights, I haven't gotten the misfire at idle. Strange, strange things. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm just jealous as with two different Bluetooth adapters I still can't g wet one to work with car gauge pro. Wish I could get it to work.
Never heard of your situation. Kind of neat if it doesn't damage anything

Sounds like it was backfiring from running very rich.

Ah..... So that's what causes backfiring. Yeah, my car backfires like crazy. I guess I should look into tuning this summer.
