HELP Please

My daughter has a 2000 Maxima. She was driving recently and the car would not go into neutral or park and the engine would not shut off. Any ideas?

Possibly the neutral switch is shot or the relay solenoid is out which is inside the shifter console.

Does the shifter itself move at all or is it jammed up

It's strange that the engine wont shut down. Will the key come out?

If the engine wont shut down it sounds more like an ignition problem than a shifter problem.

Were you finally able to get it to shut down?

Turns out the problem is not with the Maxima, but with the after market remote starter I had put in 2 years ago. Now it is all making sense. We did finally get the engine to shut off after pulling fuses but it kept trying to start again even though it wasn't getting fuel. Freaky
