How to shim new Input shaft bearing..

Hi haven't been on here in a while been busy, also haven't driven the max very often.. Lately put a new cat-back exhaust on the new girl and have wanted to fix the bad input shaft bearing. I have all the bearings i need and tools to do this plus the manual that is floating around the internet to disassemble the gearbox. My only question is when you done with the suspect bearings and cleaning everything and how do you get your proper sizes for the new shims? I have seen some threads on using the crush solder technique to get the appropriate measurements, but i am not sure how to do this at least not 100 percent sure. My Max is the usual 3.0 liter 5-speed open diff.. Besides the bearing this thing runs pretty damn good, I haven't put that many miles on it lately because of the bearing and have wanted to fix it for a while. The only other thing i wanted to fix was the damn radiator support that has rotted out, but hasn't really caused any other issues. This past spring i re-did the whole front end, both inner and outer tie rods, and ball joints. i am also planning to do both outer cv boots because they too are looking worn. That is about all i have right now to do on this, I LOVE THIS CAR, so i hope you guys can help me out thanks!!!
