Does an '06 Altima steering knuckle fit an 00-01 Maxima?

So I bought a new steering knuckle (spindle) off eBay that was for a 2006 Altima 3.5 -- the seller owns a scrap yard and he listed that it works for 00-01 Maxima/i30. However, the ABS sensor is different (smaller bore than my '01 i30's abs sensor) and trying to get the knuckle *back* onto the car I have the lower ball joint hooked up and axle inserted -- and that is as far as I can get.

My issue is the strut body mount tabs where it bolts to the upper knuckle part are too far down and I cannot pry the lower control arm down far enough to line up the bolt holes. The strut bottom is so low it's pushing very hard into the outer CV boot where I think it may tear it open.

What is my issue here??? Is the knuckle not interchangeable like he said or am I doing the re-installation in the wrong order? I need this car back on the road and I'm close to throwing a hammer through a window I'm so frustrated.

I really need help.

Yeah....jack up the strut lmfao. I can't say this has ever been an issue. Is the knuckle the same at all? Unbolt the strut from the car and do it that way, but this doesn't sound right.

Idk if a new style abs sensor spliced in would work. You could drill out the hole, though.

Buying parts off of a different chassis isn't wise unless it's known to fit (and not from a seller lol).

True, I feel like I put too much trust in this buyer's promise of fitment -- something I almost never do! I figured since he's an salvage parts re-seller he'd know with his professional interchange book and plus I've been busy lately and perhaps now I'm paying for not triple checking even though I did do Google searches to confirm of which I found nothing saying yay or nay except for some so-so sources saying it should fit.

Anyways, Is this standard to jack up the strut to compress it in order to get the holes to align with the knuckle's holes? I've replaced a few struts before and while some required muscle to get them to align I never had to jack up the strut/spring to get the holes to align. It makes me wonder if the '06 Altima knuckle upper part is higher than the '01 Maximas.

Thanks for the reply, and yeah I am considering spicing the abs sensor wiring if the Altima's doesn't reach.

I was joking

See my edit. And I'd measure or compare them side by side.

Ok I'll do that tomorrow. The original knuckle is in another city but I'm heading that way tomorrow so I'll measure the **** out of it. Sorry -- I'm so upset/defeated right now I can barely notice a joke when it's present haha

Let's just pretend I'm not a complete moron, for just a second.

Ok here is the reply from the eBay seller -- HE WAS WRONG:
SELLER: Ok, i think we may have an error. We ran into this last month where the HUB is what the interchange was listed for, not the actual spindle. It appears that the spindle is NOT interchangable with your vehicle. Altima shows by itself, not interchanging with Maxima. The hub does interchange but not the spindle.

This will be an error on our part and we will issue you a full refund and send you a call tag to ship the part back. Unfortunately i do not have the correct spindle for your vehicle so a refund is the only option that i am able to provide you at this time. I am truely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. We strive to provide the correct parts to our customers and will rectify this issue so it doesnt happen in the future.

Thanks for your understanding

ME: I believe that much, but my question is are you 100% sure this 2006 Altima spindle is interchangeable with the 00-02 Nissan Maxima spindle? I have some current doubts the physical dimensions are not an exact match but if you have a Hollander Interchange that says it works then I would like to hear that. Thanks
