Just let a good deal slip away on 2002 Maxima SE

A guy was selling an 02 Maxima SE in my area. Body was clean and rust free for $700. I went to look at it. the 3.5 Engine had 295,000 Miles i was amazed. It had massive oil leaks on the pass side and alternator was almost covered in oil. It had 3 codes that came up one was for b2 o2 sensor and a cam sensor. It needed exhaust work(loud) and was missing and hestitating at idle like it wanted to shut off. And also a air intake temp sensor code came up. It drove good just missed a couple times through the driving range. Wheel bearings were making noise also on the front. It need some tlc but for the amout of miles i was amazed!

That's a lot of miles. It if had more like 195,000, then I would've considered scooping it up.

Way too much mileage. Might be a good deal if you want a parts car.

If auto, meh. If 6 speed (especially loaded) that's a steal and prime candidate for 5.7 swap.

Is that a common swap in these cars? I assume it involves conversion to RWD? Not actually legal to do that, but interesting just the same.

5.7 is an 07+ Altima 3.5 or 09+ Maxima engine swapped into a 5.5 gen
No RWD here

Yeah I've never seen a vq35 engine with that many miles. Most I see in the junk yard are well below that mileage. I guess I can find another with less miles though. Now that I actually own a vq35 car I'm not as afraid of them anymore. Maybe best someone else bought it.

Ha, ha, that's pretty funny. Yep, just sold a 5.7L Vette a month ago. I was thinking it would take a giant size shoehorn to put one of those in this Maxima.
