Convert from HID to standard halogen

My 2002 Maxima SE has factory HID headlights & I'd like to convert to aftermarket halogen. I see plenty of info regarding converting from halogen to HID, but not the other way. Didn't know if there's an easy, straightforward way to do this?

LOL..good one I guess it does sound backassward?! I've restored the headlights but it still doesn't compare with crisp, clean new housings. HID units are in the $400+ range/pair vs >$200 for halogen.

I was just on eBay looking at headlights. New halogen housings are $70 for the pair. You can get aftermarket halo's for $150. Just go that route. Or go to car-part.com and try and find a clean pair of used ones.

Not to mention that there will be a gap in the bumper if you use the 2000-01 headlight housings.

Sanding plus clear coat does make them look like new, again.

My primary question is what needs to be done to modify the HID wiring harness to connect to the halogen unit?

Delete the ballasts. But halogen output is garbage without projectors (and not chinabay ones).

Got it that ballast would be removed, but don't believe I can then simply plug into a non-HID housing

Then splice connectors from junkyard or buy new pigtails.
