cant idle between 2000 and 4000 for emmissions
Hi lads,
my maxima has never run right since I bought it,I went for an emissions test on thursday and they couldnt test it because it wont settle between 2000 and 4000 she will sit at 750 no problem idles perfect plenty of top end power but mid range its dead she threw a double cat fault p0420 and p0430 and knock sensor p0325 but I dont get cat smell
I dont think the cat is fried she has too much power over 4000 revs she will do 110mph no problem also she has blown two radiators but I think this is down to a bad ects combined with a bad rad support.yes I bought a lemon I badly need help here I have spent 600 with diagnostics replacing rads throttle body tps iacv HELP!!!!

Fix the code problems fist. Fault gas cap, or O2 sensors or bat Catyl. I don't see where these would cause a irrotic idle. Check the MAss air flow sensor, throttle body, engine air filter, spark plugs, fuel pump ..... could be any of these but can't tell. That's my approach

thanks les7311 for your reply could the cat cause a bad idle or is it more likely a sensor I have had the throttle body off several times and cant find anything wrong very smooth operation and I did clean it completely with white spirits because I was concerned that the throttle body cleaner would damage the coating replaced both IACV and TPS I am going to do a smoke test but I dont think it will reveal anything though because it should affect low idle more so.when I press the gas the rpm become really erratic from 1500 to 4000 unless I floor it would this indicate anything more definite

If you manually opened the "butterfly " to clean it then that's your problem. Wil have to be reprogrammed.
There is a learn procedure somewhere on the forum, but it didn't work for my year maxima. Worth trying also
