'03 Maxima TE SE 6-speed engine removal

So this is my first post, and my dad's car, I'll go ahead and get that out of the way. The thing needs a new clutch, and a shop has quoted us $750 to do it minus parts. I'm buying a shop crane tomorrow for my project car, and I thought, "Hmm, maybe we can do it ourselves."

I've already looked through this forum and it looks like it's possible to pull it from the top, but am I pulling the whole engine and transaxle or just the engine? Should I just go with the shop's $750?

Never having even considered trying this I probably should not be posting, but from the limited amount of time I have been under my car, I don't see how you can get the transaxle from the top without first removing the motor and why you want to increase the effort removing the motor.

So do go with the shop just for the sake of they've done it before?

Trans comes out the bottom. Engine stays in the car.
